Lime Slurry (certified organic)

What can Lime Slurry do for you?
Lime benefits are in that it removes acid from the soil, thereby increasing pH and base saturation, as well as improving the calcium content. Using the proper pH for crop growing will enhance productive returns. Lime Slurry will do this very efficiently and at a relatively low cost. Crops with a higher protein content will benefit from Lime Slurry. The grower should familiarise themselves with the best pH range for their crop. Farmers should plan ahead to determine the need for lime. Yeilds will decline if pH is below the recommended level.
Lime Slurry:
- Helps release and make available important elements such as phosphate, magnesium, boron, calcium and molybdenum
- Reduces toxic elements such as aluminium
- Improves water retention
- Encourages worm and microbial activity to break down waste and other material, helps to make nutrients plant available. This also aerates the soil
- Can improve palatability of pasture
- Can improve soil structure
- Develops stronger and often olnger roots in pastures
- 100% organic
It is well known that Nitrogen fertilisers can effect the soil pH by lowering it. When large quantities are used this can lead to serious problems, unless lime is used to neutralise the effect. Common forms of these fertilisers are Urea and Ammonia fertilisers, including DAP.
We advise farmers not to apply Lime or Lime Slurry within about eight weeks of calving unless you do not graze it with precalvers. Always provide your percalvers with sufficient magnesium, especially in cooler weather,as a heavy lime application can reduce this element's availability.
Lime Slurry contains about 90% Calcium carbonate and 0.6% Magnesium carbonate, plus a number of micro nutrients(trace elements).
Lime Slurry's small particle size is its unique feature. Overseas trials have shown a dramatic increase in soil pH over a short period of time, especially in the first six months after which the increase in soil pH slows down- depending on the amount applied.
Acid soils tend to tie up plant nutrients preventing plants from utilising them. Acid soils also dry out faster in times of low rainfall and are slow to re-establish themselves when rain arrives.
Lime is a simple product doing a simple, but very effective and important job.
The Benefits of Lime Slurry
- By neutralising acids and other toxic chemicals Lime Slurry will increase your soils potential, through improved worm and microbial activity, better root development and better tilth.
- By improving your soil pH and Base Saturation with Lime slurry your nutrients will be better utilised, with greater efficiency.
- Lime Slurry can increase clover and grass quantity and quality, it can also reduce the presence of some weeds.
- Lime Slurry can improve palatability;your pastures will be better utilised, ensuring fresh feed all the time and a thickening of your sward.
- Because you improve the utilisation of your nutrients, pasture quality, quantity and stock health will be maintained or improved, along with production.
- Production of early lactating cows may be improved due to increased calcium levels. A 500kg cow doing 1kg of milkfat needs 100gr of calcium per day.
